How Samuel Peter suffered an embarrassing loss in Canada

Former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter was stopped in the first-round by Arslanbek Makhmudov in their bouts on Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Peter went into the bout with the aim to rebuild his fading career in the sport that earned him fame and fortune since turning professional.

Arslanbek Makhmudov who is unbeaten (10-0, 10 KOs) however recorded a first-round TKO over 39-year-old Peter (38-9, 31 KOs) in a bout for the NABF title.

Makhmudov added Peter to his casualties by dropping him with a big right hand in the first round.

Samuel Peter “The Nigerian Nightmare” then failed to go beyond the first round after he sustained serious damage from the right hand that hit him, but medical said he’s fine afterward.

Samuel Peter’s loss was overshadowed by Anthony Joshua’s triumph over Andy Ruiz Jr. at Diriyah Arena, in Diriyah, in Saudi Arabia, as both fights were staged on the same day.
