How Stopira’s goal slowed down Eagles aggressive mood after Osimhen’s early lead

Cape Verdeans should thank Ianique dos Santos Tavares, commonly known as Stopira for his courageous response to Victor Osimhen first minute lead in the World Cup qualifier in Lagos.

The Cape Verdean who plays for Hungarian club Fehérvár FC as a left-back didn’t wait for too long to redeem the image of his team in the 6th minute of the game after Osimhen’s early lead at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.

Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with Cape Verde to seal their place in the playoff round of the CAF 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

At the end, it was enough to put Gernot Rohr’s men into the playoff draws. The ten group winners will be drawn against each other in a two-legged playoff match, with the winners representing Africa at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
