How Super Eagles saved John Dumelo from stress

Ghanaian actor John Dumelo was saved the stress of walking barefooted from Accra to Lagos Friday after Super Eagles played out a barren draw in the first leg of the World Cup play-off at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Dumelo who rank among some of the best actors in his country and beyond had vowed to do the one-man-million walk to Abuja if Eagles beat the Black Stars in front of over 70,000 Ghanaian supporters.

While some soccer fans regarded it as a huge joke others wished the Eagles would carry the day to allow Dumelo prove his self declared fitness.

Fortunately for Dumelo the match ended in a draw thus saving him the stress of embarking on unsolicited Israelite journey.  But if you think Dumelo was not confident about his vow you are wrong as he took to the social media immediately after the match to mock the Eagles describing them as Super Chikens’ even as he invited the team to visit his Ginger farm to collect some for free before leaving for ‘Naija”

Dumelo who doubles as a farmer and politician was the first Ghanaian to hit a million likes on facebook in 2014 and has garnered so many awards in the course of acting both in the Ghana film industry and the Nollywood respectively.

He featured in several movies including Single Married and Complicated, The Supremo, Ties that bind to mention just a few.

Although the scenario by virtue of the draw remains 50-50 the Eagles have an edge in the reverse fixture billed for Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

The Augustine Eguavoen tutored side may choose to replicate 20 year old history.  In 2002 ahead of the World Cup in Korea/Japan, Eagles went Ghana and pulled a draw with the Black Stars just like the did on Friday, then returned to Nigeria to thrash Black Stars 3-0 in the return leg.

Tuesday is a matter of hours away for the Super Eagles to decide whether or not to pick a ticket to the world cup in Qatar or watch the event from the sidelines.
