Hugo Lloris remains at Spurs rejects Newcastle offer

Hugo Lloris has reportedly turned down an offer from Newcastle, and is now expected to remain at Tottenham Hotspur for the final year of his contract in North London.

The Magpies’ offer would have entailed the former France captain taking up a number two role, which led the former Nice man to reject the approach. Lloris has been keen to find a club where he would be the starting goalkeeper, having lost his place at Tottenham, which is now taken up by Guglielmo Vicario.

The French outlet indicate that, although the Premier League side had agreed to let him leave on a free transfer, Lloris’ efforts to find a move were sometimes stalled by the club’s attempts to obtain a transfer fee.

The Times had reported earlier  that Newcastle were looking to sign Lloris on a loan deal, after the shot-stopper’s proposed move to Lazio collapsed earlier this summer.
