“I would have liked to play with Zidane”

Chelsea’s Spanish forward, Pedro Rodríguez, said  in a digital meeting on Friday, that the footballer he would have liked to play with is the Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, whose elegance as a player he highlighted.

“I would have liked to have played with Zidane, a very elegant player with a lot of vision in the middle. I liked him a lot. Whenever he touched the ball something good could happen,” he said in a meeting on his social network accounts.

Pedro acknowledged that the confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic “is being hard” and hopes that the season can be resumed when the situation has been resolved: “We have been locked up for a month. I train a lot at home, but staying in shape is going to be difficult”.

“It’s like a summer holiday for footballers because you’re not in touch with the ball. You lose that a little bit, even though you play with the ball at home. It’s going to be noticed depending on how long it lasts. If it’s two months, it’s going to be very noticeable,” he lamented.

Looking back, he highlighted as the best spell of his career being part of a historic Barcelona and the Spanish National Team as world and European champions.

“I have been lucky enough to be in Barça’s golden age when we won everything with Pep (Guardiola), 6 trophies in a season, and playing great football that will always be remembered. With the national team, the same thing. I had a good time with Luis Aragonés and I experienced the continuity with (Vicente) Del Bosque. I was lucky enough to be in a great era and to win, which makes it all the more valuable”, he said.

If he has to choose a moment, Pedro stays with the Champions League final. “The final at Wembley. I played all the competition and was important at Barcelona. Also special is the Germany match in the World Cup, my first match at the Bernabéu scoring against Real Madrid and Super Cup or World Cup finals for clubs I was able to score in, but I’ll pick the Wembley Champions League final against Manchester United,” he said.
