I’m now capable of coaching Barca, Xavi finally declares

Xavi Hernandez feels ready to coach Barcelona despite turning them down earlier this year.

The club approached their former midfielder as they sought a replacement for Ernesto Valverde only for him to turn them down, but that decision doesn’t appear to have been taken due to any self doubt on Xavi’s part.

“I’ve tested myself as a coach,” Xavi told YouTuber DJMariiO in an interview for Post United.

“I see myself as capable and it’s a dream to return to Barcelona.

“I’ve said on a number of occasions that Barcelona is my home, it’s my life.”

Even if Barcelona is his dream job, Xavi is still enjoying his time in Qatar.

“I’m learning a lot in Qatar,” he explained.

“Obviously coaching Barcelona is a big thing. I have to think clearly.

“I have to be very prepared. It’s all a process and I hope that the chance comes someday.”

Neymar has been linked with a Camp Nou return since leaving the club for Paris Saint-Germain, and it’s something that Xavi views favourably.

“Why not?” He responded when asked about the Brazilian going back.

“Football-wise I have no doubts.

“I’ve been with him in the dressing room and he seems to be a great person.

“He was a professional and made a difference.

“On the pitch he’s in the top five.”

Lautaro Martinez appears to be the Catalans’ current priority though, and he’s another player that Xavi likes.
