India 2022: Flamingoes clinch ticket despite draw with Ethiopia

The Nation’s U-17 women side, the Flamingoes booked their place in the World Cup to be hosted by India on Saturday.  The Olowokere tutored side were held to a goalless draw by their Ethiopian counterparts at the MkO Abiola Stadium Abuja.

The Flamingoes had won the first leg in Addis Ababa by a lone goal and had been tipped to enjoy a semi-goal feast in Abuja but that did not turn out to be but the girls were able to qualify on 1-0 aggregate.

Aside from picking the ticket the girls also left impressive record in the qualifiers scoring 15 goals in six matches conceding none.

Three teams will represent Africa at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India which will run from October 11 to 30.

The 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup would mark the 7th edition after making a debut in 2008 in New Zealand.

Spain are defending champions of the tournament after emerging champions at the last edition 2018 in Uruguay
