Injury may keep Man Utd striker Rashford out

Marcus Rashford appeared to limp down the tunnel after he was subbed off against Brighton.

The striker had not played since March 18 and was left out of the England squad having missed the previous three games for Manchester United.

He was deemed fit enough to play against Brighton on Sunday and even bagged the equaliser – providing a neat finish into the far corner after being put through by Bruno Fernandes.

But less than ten minutes after that goal, Rashford was heading down the tunnel.

He appeared to be grimacing, although it is not yet clear if he has picked up another injury or was just taken off as a precaution.

Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the situation was ‘tough’ and could not confirm Rashford’s availability for Thursday’s game with Granada.

He told the BBC: “You just hope he can recover from it. He had to come off, but he’s a tough one.”

United had fallen a goal behind after former academy graduate Danny Welbeck opened the scoring for Brighton.

Solskjaer’s side struggled to get into the first half but were better after the break.

On the equaliser, the manager noted: “It was a long ball which went up, we won it and it was great by Bruno to carry the ball. He’s hacked down as well!

“The finish was excellent – calm and composed. Marcus has been working on that a lot.”

It was substituted Mason Greenwood who then set United on their way to three points.

The teenage prodigy, who has struggled at times this season after a breakthrough campaign last year, scored with just seven minutes to play.

The close-range header was only Greenwood’s second in the Premier League this season.

Another Old Trafford striking product, Danny Welbeck, had put the Gulls ahead early on.
