International: Ligue 1 attacker Moffi to lead Super Eagles forward against Algeria

Terem Moffi, who has been firing goals in the French Ligue 1 this season, will lead the Super Eagles attack in tonight’s friendly against Algeria in Oran.

Moffi, 23, did not see action in Friday’s 2-2 draw with the Algerian CHAN team so as to be fresh for tonight’s clash.

In the absence of Victor Osimhen, the FC Lorient star and Taiwo Awoniyi are the two proper centre-forwards available for selection by coach Jose Peseiro.

Moffi has already flourished under the Portuguese coach after he scored twice in the 10-0 pounding of Sao Tome.

They were his first two goals for the Eagles and that would most certainly have boosted his self-belief as well as the confidence of the man who picks the team.

Lorient eight Million Euros gamble on a relatively unknown striker from modest Belgian club KV Kortrijk two years ago has paid off handsomely.

He scored an impressive 14 goals in his debut season in Ligue 1 to help the French coastal club stay up in the top flight.

He was named his club’s Player of the Season.

Last season, he netted eight goals and this term, he has already banged six goals in eight appearances for perennial relegation battlers Lorient to be third on the table.

Eagles assistant coach Finidi George has tasked Moffi to take his big chance in Algeria, and the all-action striker is expected to do that tonight.
