The coach said that’s the only way to get the best materials for the national team ahead of any international engagement.

Speaking on Sports radio 88.9fm, he said the players who always like to warm the bench should be ‘shut out’ of the Super Eagles, and those who play competitive full-time match should be allowed to pick the national team jerseys.

“It’s high time we stop parading half-baked players and invite the best players across the world who are playing regularly in their teams. Depending on the quality and status of the player, those who always fail to make an impact from the bench should also have no place in the Super Eagles,” he said.

Makinwa had disclosed that he returned to Nigeria because of a lack of opportunity for black coaches in Europe.
