Italy ready to host fans at Euro 2020

Italian Government has given UEFA assurances the Euro 2020 games in Rome will have some fans present.

UEFA had gone from demanding the host cities for the itinerant tournament allow some crowds present to encouraging it, considering the growing number of COVID cases in Europe and the relatively slow rollout of the vaccine.

According to ANSA ,  the Government has just told the FIGC, and in turn UEFA, that they are prepared to allow the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to open at some capacity for the start of Euro 2020 on June 11.

Italy will play three group games at the Olimpico, with a quarter-final scheduled there on July 3.

Although the Government has seemingly given the all-clear, it also added that the CTS (Technical Scientific Committee) will have to clarify the protocols for public events to take place in safe conditions.
