Iwobi gets 34 minutes action in Everton defeat

 

Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi was in action for 34 minutes as Everton fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Goodison Park to Norwich City.

Iwobi who was impressive in super Eagles double header 2021 Nations cup qualifier against Benin Republic and Lesotho, came into Saturday’s match as late substitute for French man Morgan Schneiderlin in the 56th minute, at a time when the Toffees were already a goal down.

Although Iwobi’s introduction added some momentum to Everton’s attack it nonetheless did not remedy the situation as the visitors compounded the situation by scoring a second goal in the two minutes of added time.

While it was disappointing for Iwobi however, compatriot and Leicester City regular Wilfred Ndidi had every cause to celebrate as the Foxes grabbed a 2-0 away win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ndidi as usual was in action for the full duration of the match. Compatriot kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute just Leon Balogun was equally listed but not used by the homers.
