Jesse Lingard sacks agent over elusive search for new club

Former Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard has fired his agents over his inability to secure a new club, a situation which reasons is becoming frustrating.

Lingard remains a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest last summer on a one-year deal worth £200,000-a-week.

The 31-year-old is yet to secure a move six months after leaving the club and the former England international has reportedly become frustrated at the lack of progress.

“Lingard just wants to play football and that’s why he has severed all ties with his former agents,” the source said.

Lingard has reportedly terminated a “complex long-term agreement” with his agents, frustrated that “several contract offers and inquiries since his departure from Nottingham Forest have not developed”.

It was claimed that “money is not the driving force” for Lingard in his search for a new club.

Lingard has been training privately in Dubai, after failing to secure a contract after training with West Ham and Saudi side Al-Ettifaq during the season.

The forward had a productive loan spell with West Ham in 2021, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances.

West Ham have ruled out a move for Lingard despite an injury crisis in attack, amid concerns the 31-year-old will go so long without playing.
