Jupiler League: Orban blasts Gent coach over bench role

Nigeria’s Super Eagles and KAA Gent forward Gift Orban has vented his anger on his club coach Hein Van Vanezebrouk over his bench role.

Nigerian International has been in and out of the team since August due to injury and loss of form.

He was in action on Sunday and scored the team’s 3rd goal against Sporting Charleroi.

Despite scoring, Orban was still annoyed during the post-match conference and further asked for more playing time.

“I don’t feel like myself anymore,” he told Het Nieuwsblad.

“Sitting on the bench, playing for ten minutes… What can I bring to the club or team?”

“I am not a player who gains confidence when I come on. I am a player who starts and must be able to grow in a match. A club cannot destroy my career, it also sounded striking.

“I’ll keep working. If it doesn’t work here, go elsewhere.”
