JUST-IN: Champions League final reportedly gets Portugal venue
Days after Turkey was placed on the UK’s travel ‘red list’, UEFA have been forced to find a new venue for the Champions League final between two Premier League sides Manchester City and Chelsea.
The final could take place in Portugal instead of Istanbul, where it has been scheduled to be disputed for the second consecutive year, as last season’s final had to moved too due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
This year’s event is scheduled for May 29 and as The Times reported UEFA are contemplating moving it to Estadio do Dragao, as Portugal is on the UK’s travel ‘green list’.

Each team will be allocated around 4,000 tickets apiece for the game, but the UK government have advised against travelling to Turkey, with travellers being forced to quarantine upon their return.
The English FA and authorities offered Wembley as an alternative, but according to The Times, UEFA could ask for quarantine exceptions for journalists and sponsors who will attend the final with the UK government having until Tuesday to make a final decision.
