JUST-IN: Chelsea and Barca reach Aubameyang transfer agreement

Chelsea and Barcelona have reached an argreement in principle for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reporst coming out of Camp Nou.

The forward has also reached an agreement in principle over personal terms and has been granted authorisation to travel to London to complete the move.

The Athletic reported earlier on Thursday that Chelsea’s latest proposal is believed to be worth around €7.5million (£6.5m) plus the defender Marcos Alonso moving in the opposite direction.

Chelsea offered the 33-year-old forward a two-year contract, with the option of an additional 12 months based on the percentage of performances he makes in his second year at the club.

If the move is completed Aubameyang will likely have to wait to make his Chelsea debut, however.

Aubameyang is believed to have suffered a broken jaw during a struggle with intruders when his home in the Catalan city was burgled on Sunday.

The injury was sustained as Aubameyang tried to protect his family and house from a violent robbery and it is anticipated to keep him out of action for a number of weeks.

The length of lay-off is likely to be determined by whether or not he undergoes surgery, with that option thought to offer a quicker return than waiting for the injury to heal naturally.
