Juventus hammering ‘amazing’ as Chelsea did not ‘fall asleep’ – Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel is delighted that his Chelsea side picked up a “fantastic result” versus Juventus in the Champions League group stages.

Chelsea went into this game second in Group H. Juventus beat their rivals 1-0 in Italy around two months ago but the Blues got their revenge on Tuesday night.

Tuchel’s side were by far the better team against their rivals as they dominated at Stamford Bridge.

They took the lead in the first half through Trevoh Chalobah. The ball fell nicely for him in the penalty area and he smashed the ball home.

Reece James doubled their lead in the second half as his effort flew into the far corner. They got their third a couple of minutes later.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was the third academy player to score as he fired the ball past ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Chelsea were not done there as Timo Werner added a fourth in stoppage time. This result sends them through to the knockout stages and it moves them to the top of Group H.

As reported by BBC Sport, Tuchel said his players “created so much” in their “amazing performance”:

“We wanted to stay patient but at the same time not fall asleep. We wanted to increase the rhythm and intensity. It’s so tough to create and score but we created so much. An amazing performance and a fantastic result,” Tuchel said.
