Karim Benzema signs off for season

Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema turned to vacuum therapy again as he bids to extend his trophy-laden career.

The 35-year-old striker finished the season with a gruesome cut on his foot that required stitches.

Benzema provided an update on Monday with suction devices on his foot to gently heal the wound and also on his back to repair muscle.

He posted a picture on Instagram with the message: ‘Thank you, until next time.’

Real Madrid fans hope that means he could be staying despite a mega-money offer join the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Benzema signed a one-year contract extension last season but is said to have received an offer worth over £173million to move to the Middle East for two years.

Benzema has had a hit-and-miss season on the field for Real as they won just one of the three trophies they competed for – as well as the Club World Cup – only lifting the Copa del Rey in what was a disappointing year.

Los Blancos missed out to Barcelona in the LaLiga title race, while they were eliminated by Manchester City in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Benzema is 35 now and is Real’s longest-serving player, but, according to Relevo , could leave this summer after 14 years at the club.

He also tweeted a photo of vacuum treatment on his back.

The therapy is a traditional Chinese technique that accommodates free circulation of blood.

Benzema showed off a gruesome cut on his foot that required stitches that he sustained in Los Blancos’ 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.

The Frenchman, who picked up the Ballon d’Or award earlier this season after being voted the best player in the world in 2022, shared a video of the afflicted area being sewn up after the match, which saw Real players wear No 20 shirts prior to kick-off.

A painful looking gash can be seen below the third and fourth toes of the striker’s right foot following the Bernabeu encounter.

It is thought that the injury came after a challenge early in the game with just 10 minutes on the clock, after a Vallecano player stamped on his foot.

Following the hefty challenge, Benzema was seen frequently limping and complaining throughout the game, although he turned down the opportunity of a substitution, preferring to grit his teeth and continue.
