Khabib wants two-fight deal with Floyd Mayweather

Khabib Nurmagomedov will insist on a two-fight deal with Floyd Mayweather.

The UFC lightweight champion called out the retired boxer following his win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 last month.

And he wants to take on the boxing legend in the cage and in the boxing ring.

“If we make a bilateral agreement with Floyd Mayweather, the fans will be pleased,” Nurmagomedov told beIN Sports .

“The first match in the ring and the second in the cage, then this would be real. I want to test myself in boxing once, that’s fair.”

The pair are unlikely to meet in either the cage or the ring with Nurmagomedov facing a fine and ban for his role in the riot that followed his fourth-round win over McGregor.

Both men will be asked to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on December 10 to discover their fate, although Nurmagomedov has claimed he will not attend .

UFC president Dana White has also insisted he will not allow his champion to fight in the ring.

“If Mayweather wants to fight, come fight, come to the UFC,” he told TMZ .

“We’re not boxing again, we did that once, that’s over. You wanna fight, you come fight… a real fight.”

Mayweather has not fought for over a year since he stopped McGregor in the 10th round.

That took the American’s record to 50-0 before he hung up his gloves.

But the 41-year-old looks set to come out of retirement again – albeit not against Nurmagomedov.

According to Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather will fight on New Year’s Eve, possibly in Tokyo before a potential rematch with the Filipino on May 5.

Pacquiao himself will return to the ring on January 19 against Adrien Broner.

The American said: “I will be war ready” ahead of an official announcement about their Las Vegas showdown.
