Klopp seeks Liverpool improvement against Sheffield United

With another match against Sheffield United quickly approaching, Jürgen Klopp will have had little time to tinker with his team after the victorious but ultimately difficult fixture with Wolverhampton at the weekend.

Liverpool won the game 1-0 but the spark following the big win over Leicester City on Boxing Day was missing.

Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table is eye-wateringly attractive and I want to stare at it all the time. If the Reds take all three points from Sheffield they will be a 13 point cavern between first and second place with Liverpool still holding a game against West Ham United. It’s just tremendously fun.

Klopp was glad his team took another three points from Wolverhampton to continue Liverpool’s unbeaten run, but he has likely been busy these last few days ensuring his team will perform with greater effectiveness on Thursday.

“I don’t know exactly what the boys said after but we were not happy with all parts of the game [against Wolves],” said Klopp.

”We were happy with the result, but the game gave us a lot of space for improvement, you don’t have to be a super football brain to see that.

“I told the boys what I thought we should have done better immediately after the game and maybe that killed the winning mood.

”I was really happy about the result but we have to work on performances.

“We never did it and should not start lying to ourselves like everything is fine when it’s not because we have to make sure that we improve. We will do, 100%.”

The Premier League road is long and troublesome. Total resilience and determination are required for every second of the season if Liverpool are to lift the title in May.
