Koulibaly: ‘Napoli must wake up!’

Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly, will not blame the tough fixture list and focused on bouncing back immediately with a win against Rijeka on Thursday.

Manuel Locatelli’s penalty and Maxime Lopez’ solo effort secured a 2-0 win for Sassuolo in Campania and Koulibaly was ‘sorry for the defeat’ in Serie A.

“Tonight, we wanted to win but we didn’t,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We’re sorry for the defeat. If we stop at this defeat, we won’t improve.

“We can’t use last Thursday’s game as an alibi. We need to think about winning this Thursday’s game against Rijeka and on Sunday in the League against Bologna, let’s think big.

“We created many opportunities to score, but we didn’t grab them.”

Napoli are fifth in Serie A with 11 points from six games and have started with one win and one defeat in the Europa League.
