Kylian Mbappe reps deny Real Madrid agreement sealed

The entourage of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has denied reports that the 25-year-old has reached an agreement to join Real Madrid this summer.

Mbappe has been tipped to swap the French capital for the Spanish capital for several years now, only for a transfer to never materialise due to a variety of reasons.

PSG rebuffed a last-minute bid from Real Madrid in the 2021 summer window, in spite of the fact that Mbappe was in the final year of his previous contract and would seemingly join Los Blancos on a free transfer the next year.

Instead, Mbappe sent shockwaves across Europe by committing his future to PSG until 2024 with the option of a third year, but he informed the French champions in 2023 that he did not plan to extend his stay.

Despite PSG’s initial efforts to force Mbappe out of the club before the expiry of his contract, a move did not come to fruition, as Real had already spent big on Jude Bellingham and captured Joselu on loan from Espanyol to replace the Al-Ittihad-bound Karim Benzema.

As Mbappe is now in the final six months of his PSG contract, he is able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs, and it was claimed on Sunday evening that he had finally given the green light to a move to Real.

However, PSG were not believed to have been aware of such an agreement, and in a statement to RMC Sport, Mbappe’s camp have rubbished speculation that the striker has shaken hands with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

“There is no agreement around Kylian’s future, especially since there are no discussions started about it, according to Kylian Mbappé’s entourage. No type of influence could also dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussion, reflection or decision,” Mbappe’s entourage said.

While Real therefore still have work to do in their pursuit of Mbappe, the former Monaco man’s contract situation remains unchanged, and PSG are still at risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has affirmed that his side will not be losing the world’s second-most expensive player for nothing, while Mbappe supposedly wants to avoid such a scenario too, in order to ensure that PSG are fairly compensated.
