LaLiga: Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo overflowing in tears of joy after winning Supercopa

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is still basking in the euphoria of  Supercopa victory, saying that it would mark the start of a “new era” for the team.

Araujo completed 90 minutes in the Clasico against Real Madrid.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “We deserved it. We’ve been working really hard, the team is together and united and we are a family. I think it’s especially beautiful because it’s the start of a new era.

“It means a lot because it gives us a boost for what is to come, too. There’s a new generation of players and I am certain a lot of trophies will come.

“I am so happy. I was crying tears of joy because it’s been a really difficult time with the injury, missing the World Cup. This trophy is compensation for my family, for the doctors.”
