Lampard ready to move on may land Bournemouth job

Frank Lampard tipped for Bournemouth job

Life must go on and so former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard is set to move on after his unexpected sack from Stamford Bridge.

Blues legend Lampard was relieved of his duties after a run of poor results in the Premier League.

But he could be back in the dugout just one week after his sacking at Stamford Bridge.

That’s because the bookies have the 42-year-old as a ‘heavy favourite’ for the next Bournemouth manager.

The Championship club sacked Jason Tindall following their shock home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.

Tindall was in charge for just six months following the departure of Eddie Howe.

Lampard has experience in England’s second tier following his spell at Derby County.

But he failed to secure promotion to the top flight as he helped them reach the play-off final.

Jonathan Woodgate, who joined Bournemouth this week as a coach, has been installed as the second favourite for the vacant job – at odds of 4/1.

Former Bournemouth manager Howe is next up on odds of 6/1 while Aston Villa assistant coach John Terry is priced at 10/1.

Bournemouth, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, said recent results have fallen below the board’s expectations and thanked Tindall for his services.

“Recent performances and results have fallen well below the board’s expectations,” said a club statement.

“We would like to place on record our thanks to Jason for his services to AFC Bournemouth over the past 22 years.

“He’s someone who is fondly thought of throughout the club, having played an important role in rescuing it from its darkest days and taking it on the greatest journey it has ever had.”

The Cherries currently occupy sixth-place in the table, eight points off the automatic promotion places and 13 behind league leaders Norwich City.
