Last 16 clash: Nigeria’s High commissioner turns prayer warrior

Ahead of this morning’s round of 16 World cup clash between Super Falcons and Lionesses of England, Nigeria High Commissioner to Australia, His Excellency Anderson Madubike has prayed fervently for the Randy Waldrum tutored side as they attempt to forge ahead into the quarterfinals of the ongoing world cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The High Commissioner was a guest of the team on Sunday during their training where he did not only commend the team for their effort so far but charged them to put extra effort and bring out the never say die Nigerian spirit, adding that God who has always been a pillar of support for Nigeria will crown the team’s effort with success.

“What I am asking of you is that extra effort and by the grace of God, that same God that made you defy all odds to defeat the host country, tomorrow (today) will not be different” he said as recorded by NFf tv.

Falcons crashed out at this same stage at the last edition hosted by France and are hoping to avoid a repeat even as the set eyes on quarterfinal mark recorded some 24 years ago.

This edition of the Women world Cup, the first to feature 32 teams has produced a lot of upsets with highly rated teams taking early exit. Among teams that have already been sent packing include defending Champions USA, and highly rated Germany.
