Leicester have made late checks on Preston’s classy centre-half Ben Davies as Brendan Rodgers chases an extra defender.
The Foxes are on the trail of £15million-rated Davies, 24, who has been watched by several Premier League clubs after an outstanding season for North End.
Boss Rodgers wants a centre-half, with Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard his current priority, but Davies has emerged as a leading alternative.
