Leon Balogun begins Rangers Sojourn on a victorious note

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun flagged off his campaign with new club Rangers on a victorious note on Saturday.

Balogun who got a starting shirt with compatriot Joe Aribo, was in action for the entire duration of the match as Rangers claimed the first victory in the new season thanks to a lone goal against Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium.

The former Wigan Athletic ace joined Rangers only few days ago on a one year deal.

Three points and away victory could be said to be a good way to start for Rangers who some fans say must rise to the occasion to challenge Celtic’s domination of the Scottish league in recent times winning 9 league titles in a roll.

Saturday’s opener saw Ryan Kent grab a 21 minute goal which turned out to be the only goal of the match for the visitors.

Balogun who has made over 32 appearances for the Super Eagles  also played for Brighton & Hove Albion from where he went on initial loan to Wigan before a permanent six months deal and subsequently a move to Rangers as a free Agent.

The last season was cut short no thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic that forced suspension of all sporting activities across the globe.
