Les Eagles ont débarqué or The Eagles have landed is the trending issue in Benin Republic ahead of Squirrels Nations Cup qualifiers tomorrow in Port Novo it has been revealed.

Some soccer fans residing within the boarders told Sportinglife.ng that since the Gernot Rohr tutored side hit Port Novo by sea discussions and permutations about the forthcoming match has taken the centre stage at virtually all joints.

“You hear Les Eagles ont débarqué, Les Eagles ont débarqué virtually everywhere you go” said a fan who simply gave his name as Chuks even as he predicted a 2-1 victory for the Nigerian side.

Meanwhile all is calm and easy for the Nigerian side who underwent mandatory Covid test on arrival in Poto Novo.  The team took to the social media to inform fans, Nigerians at home and in the diaspora  that they have indeed settled down ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

“We have arrived in Porto Novo. We also had our mandatory Covid test done at the point of entry.

We’ve settled in and lodged at the Golden Tulip Le Diplomat Hotel in Cotonou” the team dished out via its twitter handle @NGSuperEagles.

On paper some say Eagles who are currently ranked 36 in the world should have an easy run against the Squirrels who are ranked 82 in the world. Some however say it is better to adopt the watch and see attitude as there has been instances the team struggled in a match they had been tipped to win with ease.

The Squirrels versus Eagles encounter kicks off 5pm.
