Libya draws Angola, exit World Cup 2022 qualifiers

 

The Mediterranean Knights of Libya watched their dream of getting a ticket to the World cup in Qatar go up in flames Tuesday after pulling 1-1 draw against Angola at the Benina Martyrs stadium in Benghazi

Though the game would have added nothing to the chances of both teams, Libya played well and scored the first goal of the match from the spot, but a terrible defensive mistake allowed Angola to even the score at the last minutes.

Egypt topped the group and qualified for the next round of World Cup qualifiers, while Gabon, which lost its final qualifier game to Egypt, came second on goal difference. Libya came third with seven points and Angola fourth with five points.
