Ligue 1: Mbappe shoots down talk over PSG future

Kylian Mbappe has suggested that he has no interest in further discussing his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

The attacker has been representing the French giants since 2017, initially signing on loan from Monaco before going on to enjoy a legendary stint at Parc des Princes.

A remarkable 227 goals and 99 assists have come from 275 appearances in all competitions, and PSG officials would naturally like to retain Mbappe’s services in the long term.

However, the 24-year-old has ambitions to take on a new challenge and has refused to extend his contract past the end of the current season.

Although that initially led to Mbappe being kicked out of first-team matters, the France international was eventually reintegrated back into the fold and has since netted 15 times in as many appearances.

Recently, it has been claimed that Mbappe is prepared to give up as much as £70m in bonuses to ensure that a summer switch to a new club goes through more smoothly than it may have done several months ago.

Real Madrid remain as the clear frontrunners to eventually secure his signature, although Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also being credited with an interest.

Nevertheless, when asked about any developments while on international duty, Mbappe insisted that he was not prepared to elaborate on any developments that may or may not have taken place.

Speaking to Telefoot, Mbappe said: “It’s something I don’t want to talk about, especially since I already did it in June and it took up a big part of the selection.

“I want us to talk more about the national team, rather than me talking about something that will be resolved one day, so there will be time to talk about that.”

During the international break, Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the historic 14-0 thrashing of Gibraltar, chipping in with a wonder goal from 50 yards out and a further three assists.

Mbappe will be allowed to hold discussions with foreign clubs from the turn of the year, that likely to lead to Real officials opening formal negotiations with a player who is believed to be their priority target for 2024.

A recent report also indicated that Mbappe is looking to earn at least £30m per year from his next contract.
