Liverpool boss calls Mbappe’s dad in bid to win transfer race

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly called Kylian Mbappe’s father in a bid to convince the PSG star to move to Anfield.

Mbappe is one of the world’s most sought-after players, and has long been linked to Real Madrid in a move that some have suggested could cost as much as £250million.

However, under Klopp’s tutelage Liverpool have risen to become arguably the world’s best club side, having won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in the past 10 months.

And that has put them in the frame to sign the 21-year-old striker, who has scored 30 goals for Paris-Saint Germain this season.

And according to French outlet Le10 Sport, Klopp has contacted Mbappe’s father in a bid to gauge his son’s interest in joining a team that is 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

It seems the Liverpool manager is trying to get ahead in the race to sign World Cup winner Mbappe, who was reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer to Madrid shortly before football was postponed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Former PSG, Monaco and Rangers winger Jerome Rothen, who played with Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane for France, says a deal to take Mbappe to Spain was close to completion before football came to a halt.
