The mercurial Egyptian has spent time with experts, and work on the display is set to begin shortly with intricate measurements already taken.

The model will be the first of its kind for the 27-year-old, and Liverpool fans have been urged to keep a close eye on the museum’s social media channels for regular updates.

‘I’ve been on tour with them, he can’t move. He can’t leave…

Salah’s waxwork is set to be revealed later in 2020, and he becomes the first Reds player to receive the honour in almost 10 years.

After a series of photos were published by Madame Tussauds alongside Friday’s announcement, Salah said: ‘I am so excited to be working with the artists of Madame Tussauds on my first ever figure.’

And the general manager of the museum added: ‘We’re kicking off 2020 with this announcement which is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for football lovers around the world.

‘As Egyptian forward and currently both European and World Club Champion with Liverpool FC, Mo Salah is a global star at the peak of his power.

‘We know that fans will love seeing him at the home of celebrity, where he rightly belongs.’

Salah is the first Liverpool player to have a waxwork created at the museum since Steven Gerrard’s model was unveiled almost exactly 10 years ago.
