Lookman eager to don Super Eagles shirt

Leicester City ace Ademola Lookman  says he can hardly wait to wear Super Eagles shirt following FIFA’s approval of his nationality switch a few days ago.

The former England junior international who has made about 15 appearances for the foxes since joining compatriots Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi at the King Power Stadium, has been receiving avalanche of congratulatory messages from far and near following the switch and has promised to put in his best.

Taking to the social media the former Everton and RB Leipzig winger said

Ademola Lookman@Alookman_ · 14Delighted to announce that FIFA has approved my Nationality switch. Thank you for the warm welcome and I can’t wait to put on the Super Eagles shirt and represent the country @NGSuperEagles 🇳🇬🦅”

Lookman’s switch is coming at a time when he has ample opportunity to feature at the world cup if the Super Eagles picks one of the tickets to the Mundial billed for Qatar in November.

The Eagles will face Black Stars of Ghana in a two legged tie next month with the last leg on 27th March scheduled for the Abuja Stadium.

Ten African Countries including Nations Cup Champions Senegal are involved in the play offs that will see only five countries representing the continent at the World Cup.

Lookman will be following the footsteps of Alex Iwobi and Joe Aribo among others who decided to play internationally for Nigeria and who have since established themselves as an integral part of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria has made six World cup appearances after debut in 1994, crashing out in the Group stage three times and at the round of 16 three times.

The last edition in Russia ended in Group stage exit after a 2-0 and 2-1 defeat to Croatia and Argentina and a 2-0 victory over Iceland.
