Lookman returns to Atalanta’s training ahead of Milan clash

Atalanta have been handed a boost ahead of their Serie A match with AC Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with the return to full training of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations star Ademola Lookman.

Lookman is now aiming to make his first appearance for the Black and Blues since netting the winner against Leece in his final game of 2023 before linking up with the Super Eagles squad at their pre-Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Charlton Athletic academy product returned to Italy last week with a sprained ankle, consequently leading to his exclusion from the gameday squad against Genoa last weekend.

According to Italian daily newspaper L’Eco di Bergamo, Lookman trained fully with the rest of his teammates on Friday, which has improved his chances of being named in the traveling squad to Milan.

The 26-year-old was in great form at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three important goals in the knockout rounds to help the Super Eagles reach the final.

Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta coach, will make a final decision  regarding his inclusion in the traveling squad after the closed-door training session on Saturday afternoon.

Lookman has been in the starting lineup for sixteen out of the eighteen Serie A matches he’s been selected for this season and it appears likely that he will begin the game against AC Milan as a substitute if he passes a fitness test.
