Lugano set to sign Super Eagles prospect Sebastian Osigwe

Switzerland side, Lugano are set to sign Super Eagles prospect Sebastian Osigwe this summer and club president Angelo Renzetti have confirmed that the player is on their radar.

The highly rated 26-year-old, who helped Kriens to promotion twice in his 143 appearances for the club and kept 43 clean sheets, parted company with the team on mutual consent after six successful years.

During an interview with LA2 studios, Lugano president Angelo Renzetti revealed: “We are looking to build a good team for next season. There’s a huge possibility of bringing in Sebastian Osigwe, a fine goalkeeper from Kriens in the Challenge League championship and Joaquin Ardaiz, a Uruguayan from Major League Soccer (MLS). Talks are in an advanced stage and we are hoping to get it through the line.”Sebastian Osigwe

Interestingly, former Swiss Super League champions, FC Thun have already contacted Sebastian’s representatives on a possible move to the club while Stade Laussane Ouchy are keen to sign him as they chase promotion into the elite league.

The Nigerian who has represented Switzerland at the U-15, U-16 and U-18 levels is desperate to provide competition in the Super Eagles and that has influenced his decision to change clubs.

Sebastian is yet to get an invite to the Super Eagles but played for the Nigerian U-20 side during preparation for the 2013 World Cup in Turkey.
