Man City boss Guardiola not looking back at Man Utd defeat

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has said he hasn’t looked back at their derby defeat to Manchester United.

Manchester United ended City’s record-breaking 21-match winning run at the Etihad Stadium, in turn cutting the gap to 11 points at the top of the Premier League.

City can stretch that again when they face Southampton on Wednesday evening and their manager said he has witnessed the requisite hunger to finish the job.

“I didn’t watch the game. We don’t have time. I watched many Southampton games,” Guardiola said.

“Maybe we’ll play United in the FA Cup but if we don’t then it will be next season.

“We’re in the Champions League, they’re in the Europa League. We already played them in the Carabao Cup.

“There was a disappointment, sadness, then the second day it was better and today completely on fire to do a good game tomorrow.

“It’s a normal process when you lose. The reaction is common. Everyone realised how difficult it is to go on a good run and we did it. The Premier League is so complicated, so difficult.

“Sometimes it is good to live it [defeats] to realise what we have done. We are alive in all competitions and now we’ve arrived at the important part of the season.”
