Man City star Ferran Torres quashes Barca links

Manchester City winger Ferran Torres has squashed rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona and explained how his recovery is going ahead of the Nations League final.

City signed the Spaniard in the summer of 2020, paying around £20 million to Valencia for his services. He has nine goals in 28 Premier League appearances for the Manchester club so far and has an impressive goal to game ratio for the national side. 12 goals in 21 appearances is a superb record for a player of his age.

Torres has been a fine spell of form for both club and country so far this season, helping Spain to the Nations League final with a brace against Italy in the semi.

This form has seen him be linked with a possible move back to Spain, to financially-crippled Barcelona. However, the 21-year-old was quick to say it is just speculation.

Speaking on Radioestadio noche (via Goal), Torres said: “There are always rumours, a thousand come out every day.

“Now I am enjoying being able to go out more to see Manchester, it is a city in which there are things to do. The only downside I would put is the weather.”

Torres also has the benefit of being coached by two top managers, Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Luis Enrique with the Spanish national team.

The versatile forward was asked what it was like being coached by two such highly regarded coaches.

“The truth is that they are not very different.

“I am a sponge and I am learning a lot from both of them, I feel very lucky.

“I think I have a lot of room for improvement and I am lucky to be with two of the best coaches in the world who are teaching me and I am learning from them.”
