Man city table 3-year deal for ex Barca talisman Messi

Manchester City have  offered Lionel Messi a three-year contract at the Etihad Stadium after the attacker left Barcelona.

The Catalan giants announced yesterday that Messi wouldn’t be renewing his contract at the club this summer despite agreeing a deal in principle for the superstar.

Barcelona are struggling to stay below their salary cap in La Liga with the Spanish league tightening their restrictions due to the global pandemic.

Since their announcement, rumours have predictably emerged of his possible  next destination, with Man City and Paris Saint-Germain the early frontrunners.

One report claimed that City were the Argentine’s ‘first choice’ while it looks ‘impossible’ for PSG to sign Messi as they would have to sell a number of players first.

Another publication contradicted that by insisting that Messi had been in contact with PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino on Thursday evening and become the leaders in the race.

And now Le10Sport in France reckon that Messi ‘has not yet received a proposal from PSG’ and that the ‘only offer received’ has come from City Football Group.

They describe it as ‘a concrete and official offer’ from City’s owners which has been sent to Messi and his representatives in the form of a three-year proposal.

The first two years would be playing under Pep Guardiola at Man City before spending the third year of the deal at New York City FC.
