Man nabbed for squatting in luxury suites of football stadium

A homeless man in St. Petersburg, Florida was nabbed by security operatives after he was discovered using a luxury suite at Al Lang Stadium last Sunday, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rose Wong.

A cleaning crew reportedly realized something was amiss when they discovered razors, blankets and shaving cream containers in the suite. A subsequent surveillance video review revealed Daniel Albert Neja, 39, entering the food and merchandise stores of the stadium, which is primarily used by the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL Championship.

Footage reportedly showed that Neja had been in the facility since July 26. Police suspect he may have entered the stadium by blending in with a cleaning crew.

Neja was likely able to stay in the stadium as long as he did because cleaning and maintenance of the stadium had been limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Al Lang Stadium reportedly had an unknown tenant.
