Man U move to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal

 

Manchester United reportedly want to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal, who will have to ‘move mountains’ to keep control of the centre-back.

Torres turned down a move to the Premier League last summer in favor of playing in the Champions League with the Yellow Submariners this season.

However, the Spanish side face a bigger challenge in keeping him in this year’s transfer window with United desperate to sign the defender.

To strengthen their defensive options for the new campaign, the Red Devils want Torres ‘at all costs’ and are willing to pay up to 50 million euros for him, according to Mark.

Incoming coach Erik ten Hag prefers to play from behind and is keen to bring in a ball-playing central defender and Torres is said to fit perfectly into the new boss’s plans.

The player’s agents, Tarraga and Fores, will travel to Manchester this week to begin negotiations with the Premier League side. The express reports.

The meeting is said to be dependent on United agreeing a fee with Villarreal, but Torres is believed to be available.

Due to the financial difficulties of the Spanish club, Torres is one of the players said to have been put on the market to raise funds.

Unai Emery’s side are struggling despite reaching the Champions League final as their league campaign took a hit due to their European adventures.

However, they managed to qualify for the Europa Conference League on the last day of the LaLiga season.
