Man Utd awaiting UEFA status on Champions League  before devising transfer strategy

Manchester United are awaiting news on their UEFA Champions League status before deciding on transfers.

The Red Devils could be in the Champions League if they finish third or fourth in the Premier League.

They also have a chance at the competition if they win the Europa League, and they are almost certainly through to the quarter-finals there.

And the Manchester Evening News reports who United sign and how much they spend will be linked to their European place.

If they are in the Champions League, more money will be available.

A Europa League spot means less TV and sponsor money, and a more difficult time convincing top players to sign.

United must draw or beat Leicester City in the final game of the Premier League on Sunday to guarantee a top four finish.
