Man Utd to turn to Bundesliga boss amid Solskjaer doubts

Manchester United are considering interim Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of the season, according to a fanciful report in the German media.

Having at one point led United to their worst start to a league campaign in 30 years, Solskjaer‘s side are now unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions.

The Red Devils have won nine of those games and kept the same number of clean sheets, putting the club into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and effectively into the same stage of the Europa League.

According to German newspaper Bild (via the Daily Express), however, United are still not fully convinced by Solskjaer and are considering appointing Flick at the end of the season.

Having sacked Niko Kovac in November after a 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, Flick – then Kovac’s assistant – was appointed in interim charge.

The German has steadied the ship since his arrival, with Bayern losing only twice in 15 Bundesiga games since their loss to Frankfurt.

However, Flick is set to leave the German champions at the end of the season when his short-term contract expires and it is thought that the club are exploring other potential candidates such as Massimiliano Allegri and Mauricio Pochettino.

Therefore, Bild continues by saying that United could swoop in amid the uncertainty over Flick’s future and secure his services if they decide to wield the axe on Solskjaer.

In other news, Solskjaer is reportedly planning on selling five first-team stars as he prepares for a summer spending spree.
