Medical Treatment: Ugwuanyi has spent N1.5m on Chukwu—Owumi

The Chairman of Rangers International Davidson Owumi has disclosed that Governor of Enugu State and the management of Rangers International actually have been responsible for the payment of the medical and hospital bills of the ailing former Super Eagles Coach Christian Chukwu since a week ago when he was diagnosed to be sick.

Early reports on the health challenges of the former Nigeria defense stalwart indicated that there is need to raise the sum of $50,000 for his round trip to the United States of America for surgery. A patron of Chukwu’s former club, Enugu Rangers FC, Mr. Benson Ezeomeogo Ejindu made this known in a Facebook post.

But Owumi told Sportinglife.ng that there was no such arrangement for now from Chukwu’s family because they have been working together with Chukwu’s family all this while concerning the treatment of the former Eagles Coach.

The Rangers International boss further disclosed how much the Enugu State Governor Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  has personally spent on the medical bills of Chukwu and what Rangers International Football Club has spent too.

“As regards Rangers, we deposited an initial Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) for Christian Chukwu’s medical tests and others. About three days later the Executive Governor of Enugu State made available the sum of N1.5 Million also to offset the bills for the initial tests carried out on Chukwu. He is currently been treated at Nike Hospital.

“We are still hoping to hear from the doctors to know exactly what challenges we are looking at.”, Onwumi also disclosed to Sportinglife.ng.

Some well wishers must be doing something behind us/ But like I told you the government of Enugu State gave Chukwu’s family initial sum of N1.5 million while we also paid N200,000 for the initial medical tests carried out on him. By tomorrow (today) I will be officially briefed by the doctors on the next step to take concerning the medical treatment of our respected legend”, Owumi summed up.
