Morata Barca deal for six months with option to buy

Alvaro Morata is reportedly on the verge of returning to Spain to become Xavi’s new Barcelona striker.

The former Real Madrid man is being tipped to return to LaLiga and sign for his former club’s bitter rivals, initially on loan.

Morata currently plays his football with Juventus, on loan from parent club Atletico Madrid, who he joined from Chelsea in July 2020 for a deal worth £58 million.

Now, according to latest report Barcelona are well on their way to signing Morata this month with the transfer ‘95% complete’.

It is outlined that “a total agreement has already been reached with Juventus for the player’s loan for the next six months, as well as an agreement with Atletico to execute a future purchase option.”

The fact that Atletico still have outstanding funds from Barca for the purchase of Antoine Griezmann would also play a part in the deal, with Xavi’s side taking over Morata instead.

Xavi is confident he can already count on Morata for the Super Cup match against rivals Real Madrid on January 12, it is reported.

Morata will join Ferran Torres in his entry into Barca’s LaLiga and domestic cup squad, following his arrival from Manchester City.

With a bloated team and limited resources, Barça expect to sell several players in the coming months.

Record signing Philippe Coutinho continues to be offered to clubs including Premier League wrestlers Everton.

Samuel Umtiti is also likely to be moved, while Barca face an outgoing situation with big earner Ousmane Dembele, who looks set to leave as a free agent in the summer.
