More than 20,000 athletes expected as 25th NASAJ Games begins 

More than 20,000 members of staff of the judiciary at the Federal And State levels are being expected in Minna for the 25th National Sports Association for Judiciary (NASAJ) Games.

The National President of NASAJ, Emeka Idilli, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday that the participants would be drawn from all parts of the federation.

He said the NASAJ Games, otherwise known as the CJN Sports Festival, would hold from Nov. 2 to Nov. 10.

“The sports fiesta will be formally opened on Nov. 2 by Justice Mohammed Tanko, the Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CJN), while the Governor Of Niger, Abubakar Bello, will be the Chief Host.

“We are expecting an exciting Games, having received the full support of the Niger State Government and of the judiciary body at large,’’ Idilli said.

He added that athletes were being expected to compete in 18 scoring events and six demonstration events.

The NASAJ president disclosed also that hosts Niger have put in place programmes which would add colour
and make the sports fiesta a memorable event.

“This is going to start by creating awareness within the city for the competition. A roadshow will be held on Nov. 1, the day preceding the opening ceremony, in order to drum up support for the Games from the residents.

“In addition, the host Niger State Judiciary, through the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Aliyu Mayaki, has promised to stage hitch-free Games, as everything has been put in place to ensure that only eligible athletes participate in the Games.’’
