Madugu said the team will handle the weather situation to their advantage in a country situated inside the Atlantic Ocean, some way off the extreme wing of West Africa.

He said: “We are not expecting that to be a factor. However, in the course of the game, we really know what to do to address the weather situation. We know how to play against the wind.

“We are not taking anything into chance with the blend of players that we have. We are not taking anything for granted. We are here to play and win irrespective of the position. We will try and impress so that they can get disgraced at home.

“No matter how great your team is, you will always notice few areas you can improve on. We have noticed some few areas we feel they can work harder so that they will perfect at least what we have noticed either offensively or defensively.”

The return leg encounter will begin at 4pm Cape Verde time (6pm Nigeria time) on Tuesday, with Liberian official Sylvina Welma Garnett as referee. CAF has also appointed Hannah Moses (Liberian) as assistant referee 1, while Sierra Leoneans Precious Amara and Humu Marah will serve as assistant referee 2 and fourth official respectively.

Oumou Souleymane Kane from Mauritania will serve as commissioner while Fadouma Dia from Senegal will be the referee assessor.
