Moses Simon: Liverpool target Osimhen destined for big club

Nantes winger, Moses Simon, believes Nigeria teammate Victor Osimhen is destined to join a “bigger club”.

Osimhen snubs interest from Serie A

Osimhen joined Lille from Wolfsburg last summer after an impressive loan spell with Belgian club Charleroi.

The 21-year-old elevated his game in Ligue 1, bagging himself 13 goals in 27 league appearances.

His performance have attracted some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Lille president Gerard Lopez confirming interest from Premier League clubs.

Although Lopez didn’t name those clubs, reports in the UK have suggested Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have all scouted the talented forward.

Having played with and against Osimhen, Simon is convinced the Super Eagle will make another step up in his career.

He told Tribalfootball.com: “We all know that Victor is a good player. He did well at Belgiun with Charleroi and he is still doing well in Lique 1.

“He is still very young, strong and very good striker, a born goal poacher. I believe if he continues to do well, he will move to a bigger club for sure.”

Osimhen would be the second high-profile departure from Lille after Nicolas Pepe was sold to Arsenal last summer.

The Gunners paid £72m for Pepe and Lopez says it will take a similar amount to sign Osimhen.

“I am not being a sales guy because last year people didn’t believe that we had the offers we had with [Nicolas] Pepe and it turns out we had multiple of them,” Lopez told the Daily Mail.

“Let me tell you with Osimhen, it is the same thing, whatever number you heard, the high number I have read is very much on the money of the offers that we have received. That’s where we are.”
