Mourinho: It was a hard game

FT: Man City 3-1 Man Utd

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City was all a mistake in a hard game.

Mourinho who refused to excusedhis formation and game pattern admitted it was a mistake across board.

He said, “I think it is not a bad performance at all. It was a performance with mistakes and we paid for it. All three goals are our mistakes. Against a team like City, if you make mistakes you will get punished.

“We had two matches away [Juventus and then City], it is not the physical effort but the mental pressure. I think some of the boys felt it a little bit.

“The first one is a bad one to concede and the second one is even worse. The third goal kills everything.

“Everybody has to agree. It is one thing to go to Juventus and play against one of the best teams in the world for 90 minutes. Another thing to beat Shakhtar Donetsk at home 6-0 and be very relaxed. We arrive in different circumstances.

“We cannot lose the ball the way we did. It is not about David de Gea, it is about the way we lost the ball.”

Manchester City blew away their local rivals to claim the bragging rights in a comfortable derby win.

United were left stunned from the first whistle as City came out of the blocks firing, taking an early lead through the imperious David Silva.

Sergio Aguero rifled an effort into the roof of the net at the start of the second half to give City some gloss on what was a sterling performance from the hosts.

But Ederson’s foolish decision to bring down Romelu Lukaku gifted United a way back into the game – with Anthony Martial converting from the spot.

It did not deter City’s confidence, though, who continued to swag their way to the final whistle, bringing oles from the crowd, with Ilkay Gundogan finishing off a mouthwatering 44-pass move to seal the victory for City.
