Mourinho says no club like Tottenham in the world

Asked if he would have been interested in the other North London vacancy, Mourinho said: “I’m so happy here I couldn’t even think about the possibility to go to another place.

Jose Mourinho hopes to win the Champions League with Tottenham

“You can put in front of me any club in the world now, I would not move.”

Mourinho was claimed to have held talks with Gunners exec Raul Sanllehi before taking over at Tottenham last week. But the new boss added: “No, no, no. Of course, I never denied, because I never deny things.
“But when it was written I was in a meeting with Mr Sanllehi it was not true.”

Speaking about Emery’s sacking, Mourinho added: “It’s always sad news when a manager is sacked. I felt it as a kid when my dad was sacked as a manager, I felt it myself when I have been sacked previously.
“There’s not one single sacking I’m happy with. So I’m sad, but that’s life.

“Unai is a fantastic coach, not happy at Arsenal obviously, but a fantastic coach with a proven record.

A little bit of a rest and another big club will come for him and his career will be back on track.

“So no dramas mi amigo, keep going and you will get another club.”

Ironically, Mourinho’s predecessor Mauricio Pochettino is among the contenders for the Emirates hotseat.

Asked if he relished the prospect of going head-to-head with Poch in North London, Mourinho said: “I never played against Pochettino in my life. Never.

“As a manager, for Man United against Tottenham, yes. Tottenham against Chelsea, yes. But never me against Pochettino.

“So if he goes to Arsenal or if he goes to, I don’t know which club, it will never be me against him. It will be me against his club.

“So yes, I look forward to playing against Arsenal. I want to play against Arsenal. I know what it means for our fans. But with Mauricio or Emery or Ljungberg or whoever that’s no problem.”
