Mourinho urges Tottenham to pay low fee for Paul Mukairu

Jose Mourinho has implored Tottenham Hotspur to act quickly to win the race to sign impressive Anderlecht loanee, Paul Mukairu – before they are beaten to it.

Mukairu has caught the eye this season after moving to Belgium on loan from Turkish side Antalyaspor. He has netted two goals and created four more in 19 appearances for the Jupiler Pro League side.

The interest in the winger has escalated in recent weeks after it emerged he’s available for just £4m.

The growing interest in acquiring his services has seen the likes of Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen and Roma all mentioned as suitors.

However, Voetbal Primeur claims Mourinho is also an admirer and has urged Tottenham to snap up the 21-year-old. They state the club are more than willing to match the €5m asking price for the Nigerian, who is seen as one for the future.

Last week, it emerged that Ajax are likely to be Spurs’ main competition for the young star.

“Ajax are interested in Paul,” a representative speaking on behalf of the left-winger explained.

“He is a highly technical player who will fit the Ajax style. He is not yet the finished article. But Ajax would be a great club for him to continue with his development.

“It will also be a chance for the player to feature in the Champions League season after season.”

Mukairu himself is said to be ‘feeling good’ at Anderlecht but would be open to a move were one of his suitors make a firm approach to sign him.
